Automatic Time Tracking Software Version History
Our automatic time tracking software is always under constant development. New features are frequently implemented, tested and refined. Below are a list of all version changes to our automatic time tracking software.
Timetrack 5.3.0 (7-Nov-2012)
This version is a minor update. The following minor new features were added:
- Use Drag-and-drop to set category or task.
- Show more information while in the managing dialog of categories, tasks and expenses.
- Restored the old style of creating tracking rules.
- Added a command bar as an alternative for context menu. That is, any available commands for the selected item will be shown without having to mouse right-click.
Timetrack 5.2.0 (19-Oct-2012)
This version is a minor update. The following minor new features were added:
- Upgrade the tracking engine to handle the latest version of web browsers including Windows Internet Explorer 9, Mozilla Firefox 16, Google Chrome 22 and Opera 12.
- New visual design to make the software more user friendly and easy to use.
In addition, the following items were fixed and/or added:
- The name of the parent category was not display correctly when in edit mode.
Timetrack 5.1.773 (9-Nov-2011)
This is a maintenance release. The following items were fixed and/or added:
- Fixes a bug in Quick Notes where the window was not properly displayed in multiple displays environment.
- The show/hide setting of Quick Notes is now persistence through Windows restart.
- Quick Notes can now be drag and place at any of the left or right edge of the desktop.
- Quick Notes is now renamed to Note Journal to better reflect its intended usage.
Timetrack 5.1.764 (7-Nov-2011)
This version is a minor update. The following minor new features were added:
- New design for dashboard page.
- Automatic refresh page when selection changed.
- Added web page as a new additional group for report.
- The .vs. group for report is taken out and make as stand-alone selection called pivot-by.
- Added more view columns in report page.
In addition, the following items were fixed and/or added:
- Efficient time spent was not calculated correctly under certain billing status.
- Categories was not properly filtered if it has no sub-category.
- Labor cost should only be calculated for either billable or unbillable hours.
Timetrack 5.0.0 (24-Aug-2011)
This version is a major update. The following major new features were added:
- Redesign the dashboard and activity page:
- More summary groups in the dashboard.
- Able to label the time spent to a specific category, task or note in the activity page.
- Able to show time data based on a specific user or everyone.
- Added a new timesheet page.
- Added new task, expense and notes group, in addition to the existing category group, to label your time spent.
- Added new billing properties for category, task, expense and notes:
- You can set your time spent as billable, do not bill or no charge.
- Multiple billing rates based on category, task, expense or notes.
- Billing rates using user's hourly billing rates.
- Flat rates.
- In the report page:
- billing & costing are now calculated in real-time. That is, if you change the billing rates of a category, task, expense or note, the billing information will be re-calculated once you refresh the data. Previously, it was re-calculated only if you re-categorized the time data.
- Added a new unbillable column.
- Optimize the display of hierarchical category name.
- Added a new quick notes entry dialog to quickly add new notes. (note: hidden at the lower right corner of your desktop; hover your mouse over the dialog to have it reveal itself)
- Added new categories, tasks, expenses, users and certificates management dialogs.
- Able to generate supplementary certificates to your users if you have purchased multiple users licenses.
- Redesign the import/export workflow. To import time data from your users, you need to: (1) send them a unique supplementary certificates which can be generated from your principal certificate; (2) your users then export and encrypt time data using their individual supplementary certificates; (3) finally, you import and decrypt the time data using your principal certificate.
- For new installation, a default sets of categories, tasks, expenses and tracking rules are added upon startup.
- Digitally sign the Timetrack executable. That is, there will be no more "Unknown Publisher" warning after download.
In addition, the following items were fixed and/or added:
- Another copy of Timetrack can now be run by another local user of the same computer simultaneously.
Timetrack 4.5.602 (26-May-2011)
This is a maintenance release. The following items were fixed and/or added:
- Fixes a bug where the user details was not save correctly and this result in the billing cost of user not computed correctly.
Timetrack 4.5.585 (4-Apr-2011)
This version is a minor update. The following minor new features were added:
- Export and import of reports from different users on different computers.
Note: the exported file is encrypted.
Timetrack 4.4.570 (30-Mar-2011)
This is a maintenance release. The following items were fixed and/or added:
- Fixes a bug where multiple report panes were not displayed properly when the category or filter pane were selected.
Timetrack 4.4.555 (23-Mar-2011)
This version is a minor update. The following minor new features were added:
Daily activity log show you a timeline of your daily activities in chronological order. Any non-computer activities like phone call will be detected and listed in the log with the duration of your break. You can add this break time as manual work (use right-mouse-click for this option).
Timetrack 4.3.509 (27-Jan-2011)
This version is a major update. The following major new features were added:
- Open your documents, web-sites and e-mails (see notes below) from within our time tracking software by using a right-mouse-click.
Notes: beside e-mails, other Microsoft Outlook items like contacts, tasks, appointments and notes can also be opened from within our time tracking software.
PS: With the implementation of this powerful feature, you can now start your own contextual management by associating (categorizing) your related documents, e-mails and web-sites to a context (category) and quickly locate and relate information, all from within our time tracking software.

Timetrack 2.3.0 (15-Jun-2008)
This is a maintenance release. The following items were fixed and/or added:
- Added another popular time format HHH.N.
- Change the original time format of DD:HH:MM:SS to HHH:MM:SS which is more intuitive. The original 'DD' in format 'DD:HH:MM:SS' represent the number of days and one day unit is equivalent to 24 hours of work time.
